BNY Mellon to Host Its First-Ever “Fintech Connect” Forum
Company aims to advance innovation by connecting leading fintech firms with business and funding opportunities
NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2019 — BNY Mellon, the global investments company, announced today that it will hold its inaugural “Fintech Connect” forum on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at BNY Mellon’s headquarters in downtown New York.
The event will bring together a diverse group of innovative fintech companies with leading private equity investors, venture capitalists, and BNY Mellon clients to explore new ideas, identify business opportunities and unleash new thinking.
The day-long event will feature presentations by venture capitalist firms who will discuss different partnership models and discuss the outlook for fintech investments. In return, fintechs participating in the event will have an opportunity to showcase their products and connect with potential clients, partners, as well as venture capital firms.
BNY Mellon Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Scharf, who will deliver the opening remarks at the event, said: “We are constantly looking for ways to reimagine our business. The partnerships we are forming with cutting-edge, digital-first firms are integral to helping us achieve that goal. Fintech Connect will allow a group of trailblazing firms to tap into opportunities that may have otherwise gone uncovered. We are thrilled to bring these firms together with our partners, clients, as well as leading venture capitalist firms, for a day of learning, ideation, exploration and, ultimately, opportunity creation.”
Forming digital partnerships is one of the main pillars of BNY Mellon’s digital strategy. These partnerships can take a variety of forms including: alliances to bring clients new capabilities and products, strategic partnerships that drive growth via new business opportunities, co-creation or joint ventures, or minority investments.
“For 235 years, our company has been a force of change and innovation in the industry, playing a pivotal role in forming and evolving the banking system as we know it,” said Roman Regelman, Head of Digital at BNY Mellon. “Today, we are focused on digitizing our bank by transforming our processes, products and interactions to be smarter and more efficient, so we can unlock new value streams for our clients.
“Tapping into the capabilities of our broader ecosystem is a critical part of this journey and we are committed to fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation with our partners to help change the playing field for our clients.”
The Fintech Connect Forum will feature fintechs as well as established technology firms who are advancing the industry in areas of strategic interest to BNY Mellon: data analytics, artificial intelligence, digital assets, and blockchain.
